Today God says:
"I am understanding and I have strength"
He promises me:
"Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength". (Prov. 8:14)
My response to the word:
The Lord is my wonderful Counsellor. I will go to Him with my needs, and I know He will meet each and every one. He provides me with sound wisdom as I need it, and He is my everlasting strength. Throughout this day, therefore, I will not pray to have an easy life; rather I will pray that I might become a stronger person.
My prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are my strength. I will lean upon you today for all the understanding and strength I need.
Today's scriptures:
"He will be named: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace". (Isa 9:6 GW) "You will know the confidence that He calls you to have and the glorious wealth that God's people will inherit". (Eph. 1:8 GW) "So don't be foolish, but understand what the Lord wants" (Eph. 5:17 GW)

On 2nd August 1973, Lemuel Nelson Bell died in Montreat, North Carolina at age 79 years. He was a medical missionary in China for 25 years until forced to leave and then practised in Asheville, North Carolina. He helped found Christianity Today magazine in 1956. His daughter Ruth married Billy Graham.
