<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I will give good things to you when you ask me to do so".

He promises me:
  "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in heaven give good things to those that ask Him?" (Matt. 7:11)

My response to the word:
  My loving Father promises to give me good things when I ask Him for them. I will remember the importance of prayer throughout this day, and I will believe that God hears and answers my prayers because He wants to. I know that getting on my knees in prayer will help keep me on my toes spiritually.

My prayer:
  Father, thank you for being such a loving Father. I know you care about me and that you want to give me good things. Today I ask for the blessing on your presence.

Today's scriptures:
 "So I tell you to ask and you will receive. Search and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you". (Luke 11:9 GW) "I will do anything you ask the Father in my name so that the Father will be given glory because of the Son". (John 14:13 GW)

Quote for today:
The Christian life is absorbing the resources of God and living by grace, rather than depending on our own resources and living by groans. (Selwyn Hughes)

On this day:
On 4th October 1535, the first English translation of the Scriptures was published by Miles Coverdale. He wisely dedicated it to King Henry VIII, who, being flattered, allowed it to become the first English version to circulate without official hindrance.
On 4th October 1876, Johannes Rebman died in Komtal, Germany at the age of 56 years. Born in 1820 he trained at Basel and London before going to Mombasa, Kenya to join J. L. Krapf. He discovered Mount Kilimanjaro in May 1848.
