Today God says:
"My name is a strong tower in which you can find refuge"
He promises me:
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe". (Prov. 18:10)
My response to the word:
The wonderful names of the Lord God tell me who He really is in me. He is Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider. He is Jehovah-Shammah, the God Who is always there. He is Jehovah-Roeh, my shepherd. He is Yahweh, the God Who never changes. He is Adonai, the eternal Lord. He is Jehovah-Repheka, my Healer, and Jehovah-Elyon, the Lord God most high, and Jehovah-Tsidkenu, the Righteous Lord. Knowing these names of my wonderful Lord reveals Who He is to me.
My prayer:
Lord God, thank you for your names which reveal your unchanging character to me. In your names I find great refuge.

On 6th September 1839, Samuel H. Kellogg was born at Quogue, New York. Ordained in 1864 he soon sailed to India where he studied Hindi dialects and taught at a Presbyterian Theological School. He published A Grammar of the Hindi Language and Dialects. Following the death of his wife, Kellogg returned to the United States in 1876 pastoring there and in Toronto for several years before again returning to India to help revise the Hindi translation of the Old Testament. He died in India.
On 6th September 1861, Allen Gardiner died in Picton Island in the South Atlantic through supplies that were delayed in getting through. Born in Basildon, Essex, in 1794 he became a ship's captain before undertaking missionary work in Patagonia. His death brought about the South American Missionary Society and the vision and impetus for others to take up the work.
