<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I am your refuge"

He promises me:
  "The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Saviour; you save me from violence. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies". (2 Sam. 22:3,4)

My response to the word:
  A refuge is a safe place which is free from threats of harm. God is my refuge from Satan, evil, the world, and sin. I will abide in Him. Jesus said, "Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine: no more can you, except you abide in Me". I will abide in the Lord throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for filling your Word with so many wonderful promises for me to claim. You are my refuge, and I will abide in you.

Today's scriptures:
 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble". (Ps. 46:1 GW) "Whoever lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty". (Ps. 91:1 GW) "You are my refuge, my own inheritance in this world of the living". (Ps. 142:5 GW) "Live in Me, and I will live in you". (John 15:4 GW)

Quote for today:
Only a burdened heart can lead to fruitful service. (Alan Redpath)

On this day:
On 6th October 1536, William Tyndale was strangled and burned at the stake for his faith near Vilvoorde, Brussels after he had been betrayed. He was age 42 years. He had translated the New Testament into English and some of the Old Testament. His work was the first English translation to draw directly from Hebrew and Greek texts, the first to use Jehovah as God's name, the first to take advantage of the printing press, and first of the new English Bibles of the Reformation. Much of this work was incorporated into the Authorised (King James) Bible published in 1611.
