Today God says:
"I will fight for you".
He promises me:
"The Lord your God who goes before you, He shall fight for you, according to all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes". (Deut. 1:30)
My response to the word:
God goes before me, He fights for me, and He helps me to fight the battles that confront me. He is a miracle-working Father who possesses all power in heaven and earth. God is my Guardian. He promises, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you: and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you".
My prayer:
Lord, thank you for being willing to fight for me. I realize that you will always help me to be victorious.

On 9th November 1799, Asa Mahan was born in Verona, New York. He became a Congregational clergyman and the first president of Oberlin College, founded by evangelist Charles Finney. In a leading advance for the times, he insisted that the school take students without regard to their race or sex.
On 9th November 1865, John Nelson Hyde was born in Carrolton, Illinois. In 1882 he joined a band of Presbyterian missionaries bound for India and was assigned to the Punjab region. He had an itinerant ministry to remote villages, learned several local languages and became a powerful preacher. More and more he devoted himself to prayer. From 1899 he began to spend entire nights in prayer to God. He came to be called "Praying Hyde" for his passionate prayers to reach lost souls. In April 1911 he joined evangelist J. Wilbur Chapman in an evangelistic visit to three towns in England, including Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Immediately afterwards he stayed with friends in Wales, where he fell ill. He went home to America where a malignant brain tumour was discovered, and died there, after an operation in February 1912, aged 46.
