<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Abide in Me, and let My words abide in you".

He promises me:
  "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7)

My response to the word:
  I will abide in Christ and I will let the Word of God sink deep within my soul and spirit. By doing so I know that God will hear and answer my prayers. Wonderful things will happen to me as I live expectantly, believe confidently, and pray affirmatively. I will constantly abide in Jesus Christ, my Lord.

My prayer:
  Lord, I am a branch and you are the vine. In order to be a fruitful branch I know I must stay close to you, abide in your presence, and let your words abide in me. This gives me faith, rest, and hope, and it brings answers to my prayers. Thank you for letting me abide in you. Thank you for your Word.

Today's scriptures:
 "You study the Scriptures in detail because you think you have the source of eternal life in them. These Scriptures testify on my behalf". (John 5:39 GW) "I'm writing to give you a new commandment. It's a truth that exists in Christ and in you: The darkness is fading and the true light is already shining". (1 John 2:28 GW) "Those who live in Christ don't go on sinning". (1 John 3:6 GW)

Quote for today:
He who has the Holy Spirit in his heart and the Scripture in his hands has all he needs. (Alexander Maclaren)

On this day:
On 14th January 1875, Albert Schweitzer was born in Kaysersberg, Alsace. His father was an Evangelical Lutheran pastor and young Albert had an excellent education. He was not only a musician (a great organist) but he built his own organs, each a masterpiece and analysed the music of Bach. At age 30 he studied medicine, and is best known for his medical work In Africa. Because of his selfless service to the people of Gabon, Africa, he is also known as a missionary! At Lamberene, Gabon, he founded the Schweitzer Hospital, on the Ogooue River "at the edge of the primeval forest." In 1952 he received the Nobel Peace prize.
