<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I care about you".

He promises me:
  "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you". (1 Peter 5:7)

My response to the word:
  I never need to worry about anything because God has invited me to cast all my cares upon Him. I do so now, and I believe with all my heart that He will handle everything in the best possible way. Every day has two handles available - the handle of anxiety and the handle of faith. I take hold of this day with the handle of faith.

My prayer:
  Father in heaven, thank you for your invitation to cast all my worries and cares upon you. I do this now through the faith your Word imparts to me. I know you take good care of your children. As your beloved child I trust you to take care of me.

Today's scriptures:
 "The Father has given us His love. He loves us so much that we are actually called God's dear children". (1 John 3:1 GW) "Dear friends, we must love each other because love comes from God". (1 John 4:7 GW) "To love God means that we obey His commandments". (1 John 5:3 GW)

Quote for today:
Since Christ is beside us, no troubles that life can bring need cast us adrift. (Catherine Marshall)

On this day:
On 8th January 1956, Jim Elliot was killed by Auca Indians in Ecuador, aged 28 years, along with four other missionaries as they sought to take the Gospel message to them. Born in Portland, Oregon in 1927, he graduated from Wheaton College. He went to Ecuador in 1952 and longed to reach the Quechua Indians. On the banks of the Curarary River they were killed by ten Auca men. His widow, Elisabeth later went to live among the Aucas and many came to Christ. The story is told in Through Gates of Splendor and Shadow of the Almighty.
