<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh".

He promises me:
  "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions". (Joel 2:28)

My response to the word:
  The last days, prophesied by so many of the Old Testament prophets, are upon us. Jesus foretold many of the events that are transpiring in our world today. One of the greatest things that will happen in the last days is the pouring out of God's Spirit upon all flesh. Throughout this day, I will pray for this end-time revival. It will be the greatest hour in all of human history.

My prayer:
  Father, thank you that you have already revealed the end of the story in your Word. I know I have so many things to look forward to. May Jesus Christ return soon.

Today's scriptures:
 "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you. Then you will be My witnesses to testify about me". (Acts 1:8 GW) "Pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God's people". (Eph. 6:18 GW) "Every person who declares that Jesus Christ has come as a human has the Spirit that is from God". (1 John 4:2 GW)

Quote for today:
We do not use the Holy Spirit; He uses us. (Warren Wiersbe)

On this day:
On 29th December 1876, Philip Bliss died aged 38 years when the train he was travelling on fell into a ravine between Buffalo and Chicago. He was a keen musician and wrote hymns, including Man of Sorrows - What a Name; Wonderful Words of Life; I Will Sing of My Redeemer; and others.
On 29th December 1907, Lorimer Fison died in Essendon, Australia at the age of 75 years. Born in Birmingham, England he was converted on an Australian goldfield and worked with the Wesleyan mission to Fiji over a 21 year period. He spoke Fijian fluently and trained native preachers, composed hymns and wrote basic Fijian texts for pastors.
