<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I want you to rejoice evermore, to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in everything".

He promises me:
  "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you". (1 Thess. 5:16-18)

My response to the word:
  I will rejoice, pray, and give thanks throughout this day, because I know this is the Father's will for me. Seldom does the Bible proclaim so precisely, "This is My will for you". God wants me to learn to live in praise and prayer because He knows this will give me greater happiness, success, and prosperity. I will obey His Word today.

My prayer:
  Lord, I rejoice in you because you invite me to pray and you promise to answer my prayers. Throughout this day I will remember to thank you and praise you.

Today's scriptures:
 "All this is for your sake so that, as God's kindness overflows in the lives of many people, it will produce even more thanksgiving to the glory of God". (2 Cor. 4:15 GW) "Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks". (Phil. 4:6 GW) "Sink your roots in Him and build on Him. Be strengthened by the faith that you were taught, and overflow with thanksgiving". (Col. 2:7 GW)

Quote for today:
Keep praying, but be thankful that God's answers are wiser than your prayers. (William Culbertson)

On this day:
On 13th October 1849, Alexander M. MacKay was born at Rhynie, Scotland. He would live only forty years and spent fourteen of them in Africa as a missionary pioneer. He accomplished amazing things for the Lord. He built two hundred and thirty miles of road in one hundred days to reach Uganda, he set up a mission station, he learned the native dialog, taught the local inhabitants to read and write, and was the first to print gospel portions for them in their own language. He died in 1890 after a severe attack of malarial fever.
