<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "My strength is made perfect in weakness".

He promises me:
  "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me". (2 Cor. 12:9)

My response to the word:
  The Father's grace and strength are constantly at work in my life. He perfects His strength in my times of weakness. This knowledge is what enables Paul to say, "When I am weak, then I am strong". It is also the reason Paul was able to say, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". I will walk in God's strength throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for your strength which is made perfect in my weakness. Empower me to do your will throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "Therefore, I accept weakness, mistreatment, hardship, persecution, and difficulties suffered for Christ. It's clear that when I'm weak, I'm strong". (2 Cor. 12:10 GW) "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me". (Phil. 4:13 GW) "God, who shows you His kindness and who has called you through Christ Jesus to His eternal glory, will restore you, strengthen you, make you strong, and support you as you suffer for a little while". (1 Peter 5:10 GW)

Quote for today:
If the Lord be with us, we have no cause to fear. His eye is upon us; His arm is over us; His ear is open to our prayer; His grace is sufficient; His promise unchangeable. (John Newton)

On this day:
On 15th November 1912, Jacob DeShazer was born in Oregon, in a devout Christian home of modest circumstances. Although raised in church, and familiar with all the Bible stories, he had no real commitment to the Lord as he grew up. Jacob became a navy bombardier during World War II, and was part of Gen. Jimmy Doolittle's surprise attack on Japan shortly after the war began. His plane crashed as it tried to reach China, he was captured, and imprisoned for the duration. A guard gave the Americans a New Testament to taunt them that this was the way their God was treating them. But the Word reached his heart, and Jacob DeShazer was converted to Christ while in prison. Upon his release at the end of the war, he studied for the ministry, married, and returned to Japan as a missionary. Many were converted, including the Japanese general who led the attack on Pearl Harbor.
