<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I will have mercy upon you if you will forsake and confess your sins"

He promises me:
  "He that covers his sins shall not prosper: by whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy". (Prov. 28:13)

My response to the word:
  God grants repentance to my heart when I sin. Repentance means both to be sorry for my sins and to turn away from them. God promises to give His mercy to me when I confess and forsake my sins; therefore, I will confess, forsake, and turn away from my sins as soon as the Holy Spirit convicts me.

My prayer:
  Lord, I never want to attempt to cover my sins again. Instead, I want to forsake them and follow you. Grant me your gift of repentance when I sin.

Today's scriptures:
 "If you declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God brought Him back to life, you will be saved". (Rom. 10:9 GW) "So admit your sins to one another, and pray for each other so that you will be healed". (James 5:16 GW) "Many people who deceive others have gone into the world. They refuse to declare that Jesus Christ came in flesh and blood". (2 John 7 GW)

Quote for today:
"I can forgive, but I cannot forget" is only another way of saying, "I cannot forgive". (Henry Ward Beecher)

On this day:

On 17th September 1868, Walter Gowans was born in Canada. With Rowland Bingham and Thomas Kent, he went to open a mission door in East Africa, thereby becoming a co-founder of the Sudan Interior Mission. However, he died of malaria within a year.
