<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I have anointed you".

He promises me:
  "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to appoint them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified". (Isa. 61:1-3)

My response to the word:
  The Anointed One - Jesus of Nazareth - lives within me. Therefore, the anointing God put upon Him is within me. I will let His anointing arise and cover me as I go forth to serve Him. He will lead me to the meek, the broken-hearted, the captives, the bound, those in mourning, and those in depression so that I can help them receive beauty for their ashes, the oil of joy for their mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

My prayer:
  Lead me, Lord, to those who will receive healing and freedom through your anointing this day. Prepare their hearts for your deliverance. Help me to be a faithful, anointed witness to each one.

Today's scriptures:
 "You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong. That is why God, your God, has anointed you rather than your companions, with the oil of joy". (Ps. 45:7 GW) "God establishes us, together with you, in a relationship with Christ. He has also anointed us". (2 Cor. 1:21 GW) "The Holy One has anointed you, so all of you have knowledge". (1 John 2:20 GW)

Quote for today:
God looks for people who trust Him fully; in them He will show His power. (Andrew Murray)

On 16th February 1801, The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church receives its charter. Five years earlier, black members of New York City's John's Street Methodist Episcopal Zion Church left the church over racist limitations imposed on them. They had not been allowed to preach or vote until Bishop Francis Asbury allowed them to hold their own meetings apart from the John's Street church.
On 16th February 1921, John Galbraith Graham was born. He was raised in Oxford but read classics at Cambridge. He was ordained a Church of England minister. In 1970 he dovoted his life to being a crossword compiler, best known as Araucaria of The Guardian.
