Today God says:
"Give, and it shall be given to you".
He promises me:
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give you. For the same measure that you give shall be measured to you again". (Luke 6:38)
My response to the word:
I will give to God and others at every possible opportunity throughout this day. God promises that the more I give, the more I receive. This is an amazing truth. I realize that this is very different from the way the world thinks. But the Scripture tells me that obedient giving brings God's blessing. As I give, I am planting seeds that will bring forth a harvest. Two marks of a Christian (both stemming from love) are giving and forgiving.
My prayer:
Heavenly Father, you have given me so much. Thank you for all the blessings I've received. I desire to give as much as possible of my time, my talents, my possessions, my money, and my love throughout this day. Help me to be a faithful steward of all you've given to me.
Today's scriptures:
"Bring one-tenth of your income into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way, says the Lord, 'See if I won't open the windows of heaven for you and flood you with blessings". (Mal. 3:10 GW) "Each of you should give whatever you have decided. You shouldn't be sorry that you gave or feel forced to give, since God loves a cheerful giver". (2 Cor. 9:7 GW) "Cure the sick, bring back the dead to life, cleanse those with skin diseases, and force demons out of people. Give these things without charging, since you received them without paying". (Matt. 10:8 GW)
Quote for today:
I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare. (C S Lewis)
On this day:
"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".
