Today God says:
"I am your Rock"
He promises me:
"The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Saviour; you save me from violence. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies". (2 Sam. 22:3,4)
My response to the word:
God is my Rock, the solid foundation on which I take my stand and build my life. I trust Him to watch out for me at all times, because I know He is my shield, my refuge, my Saviour. He promises to save me from violence and all my enemies. I will walk in the security of this promise throughout this day.
My prayer:
Lord, thank you for being the solid foundation of my life. I believe your promises to me.

On 21st September 1782, the first English language Bible in America was printed by Robert Aitken of Philadelphia on the authorization of the US Congress.
On 21st September 1911 James Curtis Hepburn died in Essex, New Jersey at the age of 96 years. Born in Milton, Pennsylvania, he spent five years as a missionary in Amoy, China and then thirteen years in medical practise in New York. In 1859 at age 44 he went to Japan as the first Presbyterian missionary and opened the country's first dispensary, held the nation's first classes for medical students and taught the Japanese how to make and use soap. He invented the system of writing Japanese in Roman letters, published the first English-Japanese dictionary and translated the whole Bible into Japanese. On his death he was called "the nation's friend".
