<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "My wisdom gives you happiness"

He promises me:
  "Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain than fine gold". (Prov. 3:13-14)

My response to the word:
  God's wisdom in my life gives me great happiness. I find His wisdom in His Word, and understanding His Word brings great happiness to me. Truly, God's wisdom is more valuable to me than gold or silver. Even though an education can be paid for, it doesn't necessarily result in wisdom. Wisdom is a gift from God.

My prayer:
  Lord, you are my wisdom. I receive your wisdom as a gift of your love. Throughout this day I will walk in the wisdom of your Word.

Today's scriptures:
 "I pray that the glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know Christ better". (Eph. 1:17 GW) "We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through every kind of spiritual wisdom and insight". (Col. 1:9 GW) "Let Christ's word with all its wisdom and richness live in you". (Col. 3:16 GW)

Quote for today:
The Christian is strong or weak depending upon how closely he has cultivated the knowledge of God. (A W Tozer)

On this day:
On 28th July 1764 Samuel Marsden was born at Farsley, England. Ordained a clergyman, he was a pioneer missionary to Australia and New Zealand. He taught Australian convicts sheep ranching, by which they were able to support themselves. He also taught them the gospel of salvation through faith in Christ. In 1814, at the age of 50, Marsden sailed to New Zealand to convert the Maoris. In all he made seven visits, on one of which he was shipwrecked. The Maori called him "Greatheart."
