<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I have given you victory"

He promises me:
  "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 15:57)

My response to the word:
  God wants me to be a winner. In fact, He has already given me the victory over every weakness and problem through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Because of Him, I am completely victorious over sin, death, fear, and every other enemy. I will walk in the victory God has given to me throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for victory. I am more than a conqueror through you.

Today's scriptures:
 "The One who loves us gives us an overwhelming victory in all these difficulties" (Rom. 8:37 GW) "Death is turned into victory" (1 Cor. 15:54 GW) "Everyone who has been born from God has won the victory over the world. Our faith is what wins the victory over the world". (1 John 5:4 GW)

Quote for today:
Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory. (William Barclay)

On this day:
On 28th August 1840, Ira Sankey was born in a small Pennsylvania town. His real love was singing and he toured the area as a soloist at meetings. At a YMCA convention in Indianapolis in 1870 he met D L Moody, and a famous evangelistic partnership began. They travelled the world together. He became his generations most beloved gospel singer.
On 28th August 1906, George Matheson died in Edinburgh, Scotland. Born in Glasgow in 1842, he was virtually blind by the time he completed an arts degree in 1862 and struugled to become a minster. He served parishes around Edinburgh and overflowing congregations flocked to his stirring sermons and remarkable prayers. He wrote books and the hymn, "O Love that wilt not let me go".
