Today God says:
"Come unto Me, and I will give you rest".
He promises me:
"Come unto Me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and you shall find rest to your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light". (Matt. 11:28-30)
My response to the word:
God's gracious invitation, extended by Jesus Christ, is simply for me to come to Him. If I will choose to do this, He promises to give me rest from all my burdens. He wants me to share His yoke because His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. I will obey this commandment at all times today, especially when I am feeling weary, burdened, and tired. Jesus is the answer to my every need!
My prayer:
Lord, I come to you just as I am. I lay my burdens at the foot of the cross. I know that you are the great Burden-bearer, and you will sustain me. I experience your blessed rest even as I am praying. Thank you, Father.
Today's scriptures:
"Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for Him". (Ps. 37:7 GW) "God's promise that we may enter His place of rest still stands". (Heb. 4:1 GW) "Therefore, a time of rest and worship exists for God's people". (Heb. 4:9 GW)
Quote for today:
May that which is written with ink in the Bible be written with grace on our hearts. (Charles Spurgeon)
On this day:
"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".
