<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "You are My friend".

He promises me:
  "You are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you" (John 15:14)

My response to the word:
  Like Abraham, I want to be the friend of God. God sees me as His friend when I obey the commandments of His Word. With His help, I will walk in obedience throughout this day, and I will meditate upon all the things God has taught me in His sacred Word. He is a true friend to me, One who "sticks closer than a brother".

My prayer:
  Heavenly Father, friendship with you is more important to me than anything in this world. I will be your friend at all times. Thank you for sharing your Word with me.

Today's scriptures:
 "Friends can destroy one another, but a loving friend can stick closer than family". (Prov. 18:24 GW) "But the spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control". (Gal. 5:22,23 GW)

Quote for today:
How seldom we weigh our neighbour in the same scales with ourselves. (Thomas a Kempis)

On this day:
On 3rd March 1887, William Strong, founder of the Gospel Mission to South America, was born. A New York City business man, he was converted at age 35, and began reading his Bible and studying as he commuted by train. It was while he was attending the noon Fulton Street Prayer Meetings that the Lord called Him into His service. Heeding that call, he went to Tacna, Chile, in December, 1923, and began working with the armed forces. Here was an unusual opportunity, for in Chile at that time every young man gave a year of service to the military. The work was known as Soldiers & Gospel Mission (the name was changed several years later). He began by having mass meetings with the men, distributing 20,000 Gideon New Testaments each year.
