<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "My Word will keep you from sin".

He promises me:
  "Thy Word have I hid in my heart, so that I might not sin against you". (Ps. 119:11)

My response to the word:
  I love the Word of God. It is powerful and it is alive. It protects me and it defends me. When I wonder, as the Psalmist did, how I can cleanse my way, I am reminded of the truths of the Bible. I will take heed to the Word of God throughout this day. I will treasure the Word in my heart, and as Jesus did in the wilderness, I will defeat the enemy by quoting the powerful truths of God's Word.

My prayer:
  Almighty God, thank you for your Word which keeps me from sin by strengthening me and showing me how to live a righteous life before you. I love your Word, and I will hide it in my heart so that I will avoid all sin.

Today's scriptures:
 "How can a young man keep his life pure? He can do it by holding on to your Word". (Ps. 119.9 GW) "Scripture says, 'A person cannot live on bread alone but on every word of God". (Luke 4:4 GW) "God's Word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword". (Heb. 4:12 GW)

Quote for today:
If a man's Bible is coming apart, it is an indication that he himself is fairly well put together. (James Jennings)

On this day:
On 9th March 1839 Phoebe Palmer Knapp was born in New York City. The daughter of Walter C. Palmer, a well-known Methodist evangelist of that day, Phoebe, at 16, married Joseph F. Knapp, founder of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Both were members of John Street Methodist Church of New York City, whose membership also included blind hymnwriter Fanny Crosby. Phoebe Palmer Knapp published more than 500 hymn tunes, but her most famous work is the tune for Fanny Crosby's beloved hymn "Blessed Assurance."
