<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I will comfort you during times of tribulation"

He promises me:
  "Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them who are in any trouble, with the comfort we ourselves are comforted of God". (2 Cor. 1:4)

My response to the word:
  God always gives me comfort when I am going through times of loss, tribulation and trouble. I know He loves me. I receive His comforting presence even now. As I meet people today who are in any kind of trouble I will comfort them with the same comfort I have received from God.

My prayer:
  Loving Lord, thank you for always being there for me. Enable me to comfort those in any kind of trouble with your comfort and compassion.

Today's scriptures:
 "So the Lord will comfort Zion. He will comfort all those who live among its ruins". (Isa. 51:3 GW) "The number of people increased as people lived in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit". (Acts 9:31 GW) "Everything written long ago was written to teach us so that we would have confidence through the endurance and encouragement which the Scriptures give us". (Rom. 15:4 GW)

Quote for today:
The Lord gets His best soldiers out of the highlands of affliction. (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 30th August 1923, Nathaniel (Nate) Saint was born. A "jungle pilot" he was one of those martyred by the Aucas in Ecuador on January 8, 1956. Just two years earlier, Nate had perfected the bucket drop for delivering emergency supplies to missionaries.
