<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Rejoice always".

He promises me:
  "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand". (Phil. 4:4,5)

My response to the word:
  God is at hand, and this fact alone causes me to rejoice at all times. My rejoicing comes from the realization that God is my Father who is always with me. Throughout this day I will keep my heart from hatred and my mind from worry. I will live simply and fill my heart with love. Rejoicing in the Lord and praising Him will help me to keep my perspective at all times.

My prayer:
  Lord, I will spend this day rejoicing as I contemplate all the wonderful things you've done for me and who you are. It is such a privilege and honour to know you and be your child.

Today's scriptures:
 "Joyfully sing to the Lord, you righteous people. Praising the Lord is proper for decent people". (Ps. 33:1 GW) "Find joy in the Lord, you righteous people. Give thanks to Him as you remember how holy He is". (Ps. 97:12 GW) "Always be joyful". (1 Thess. 5:16 GW)

Quote for today:
I call the New Testament the Book of Joy. There is nowhere in the world another book that is pervaded with such a spirit of exhilaration. (Henry Ward Beecher)

On this day:
On 20th April 1718, David Brainerd, colonial American missionary to the Indians of New England, was born. Following his premature death from tuberculosis aged 29 years, Brainerd's journal influenced hundreds to become missionaries after him.
On 20th April 1864, Samuel Pollard was born in Camelford, Cornwall. He went to China in 1887 with the China Inland Mission and converted many of the A-Hmao in Guizhou to Christianity. He created a Miao script that is still in use today. He died in Bijie, China of typhoid in 1915 at the age of 51 years.
