Today God says:
"Do not worry".
He promises me:
"Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". (Phil. 4:6-7)
My response to the word:
God does not want me to worry. In fact, He invites me to cast all my cares upon Him. He commands me not to worry, and then points out the way to avoid worrying - prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. Worry can't change the past, and it has little effect on the future, but it sure does mess up the present. Therefore, I will give my worries to God and not take them back.
My prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you that you are the great Burden-bearer in my life. I do not have to carry my burdens by myself. You have invited me to give my worries to you, and this I do now. Thank you for giving me a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Today's scriptures:
"May the peace of God be with you all". (Rom. 15:33 GW) "But now through Christ Jesus you, who were far away, have been brought near by the blood of Christ. So He is our peace". (Eph. 2:13,14 GW) "Then God's peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus". (Phil. 4:7 GW) "Turn all your anxiety over to God because He cares for you". (1 Peter 5:7 GW)
Quote for today:
Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows but only empties today of its strength. (Charles Spurgeon)
On this day:
