<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Don’t despise My correction in your life".

He promises me:
  "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of His correction: For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father the son in whom he delights". (Prov. 3:11,12)

My response to the word:
  God loves me. He is my Father. When He corrects me or chastens me it is because He loves me. I know I need His correction in my life. Therefore, I will not resist it or despise it when it comes because I know it will serve its intended purpose of teaching me and training me in righteousness. It is thrilling to know that the Lord takes delight in me.

My prayer:
  Lord God, thank you for the discipline you bring into my life to help me become the best I can be. I receive your loving chastening and correction because I know they are good for me.

Today's scriptures:
 "A person is born for trouble as surely as sparks fly up from a fire". (Job 5:17 GW) "Correct me, O Lord, but please be fair. Don't correct me when you're angry. Otherwise you'll reduce me to nothing". (Jer. 10:24 GW) "Endure your discipline. God corrects you as a father corrects his children. All children are disciplined by their fathers. If you aren't disciplined like the other children, you aren't part of the family". (Heb. 12:7,8 GW)

Quote for today:
Look upon your chastening as God's chariots sent to carry your soul into the high places of spiritual achievement. (Hannah Whitall Smith)

On this day:
On 5th April 1811, Robert Raikes died in Gloucester at the age of 75 years. He was the pioneer of Sunday Schools. Horrified at the plight of children, in 1780 he opened the first Sunday School to teach the Bible and to use it to teach children to read. Sunday Schools soon opened throughout the country.
