<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you".

He promises me:
  "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". (James 4:7)

My response to the word:
  The key to resisting the devil is found in the command, "Submit yourselves to God". I will walk in submission to the Lord throughout this day, then, when I resist the devil, I know he will flee from me. I will also remember that Satan doesn't care what I worship as long as I don't worship God. God will have first place in my life throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Dear Lord, thank you for giving me the ability to submit to you. I do so now, Lord, and I will continue to submit to you throughout this day. It is wonderful to know that the devil will flee from me when I resist him.

Today's scriptures:
 "Don't give the devil any opportunity to work". (Eph. 4:27 GW) "Put on all the armour that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil's strategies". (Eph. 6:11 GW) "Keep you mind clear, and be alert. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion as he looks for someone to devour". (1 Peter 5:8 GW)

Quote for today:

On 16 May 1835, the London City Mission was founded through the pioneering efforts of David Nasmith. He had produced a blueprint for Christian ministry in a big city, based on experience gained in Glasgow under the influence of Thomas Chalmers, one of the first Christian leaders to experiment with new styles of ministry in the slums and tenements of the industrial revolution.
On 16th May 1929 Warren Wiersbe was born in East Chicago. Well known as a speaker and author, his books include the "Be" series of 50 commentaries on the books of the Bible. He wrote over 150 books in his lifetime. He died in 2019 at the age of 89 years.
