Today God says:
"Love one another as I have loved you".
He promises me:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, so you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another". (John 13:34,35)
My response to the word:
The greatest commandment of all is the commandment to love. Jesus wants me to love God with all my heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love my neighbour as I love myself. The ability to give such love to God and others stems directly from the fact that Jesus first loved me. "We love Him because He first loved us". His love has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. I will walk in love throughout this day.
My prayer:
Lord, thank you for your love which enables me to love others. Help me to love others as you have loved me throughout this day.
Today's scriptures:
"Jesus answered him, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as you love yourself". (Matt. 22:37,38 GW) "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments". (John 14:15 GW) "We're not ashamed to have this confidence, because God's love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us". (Rom. 5:5 GW) "We love because God loved us first". (1 John 4:19 GW)
Quote for today:
God made us for each other, and it is His will and desire that Christian believers should understand and appreciate one another. (A W Tozer)
On this day:
