<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen"

He promises me:
  "Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see". (Hebr. 11:1 GW)

My response to the word:
  Faith involves believing what I do not see. Faith pleases God. In one sense, faith is like electricity. Even though I don't often see electricity in action, I can see the evidence manifested in heat and light. The same is true of faith. By the faith that comes from God's Word I believe that Jesus is alive, even though I can't see Him with my physical eyes.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for your Word which builds faith in my heart. I will walk in faith throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that is heard is what Christ spoke". (Rom. 10:17 GW) "No one can please God without faith. Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who seek Him". (Hebr. 11:6 GW) "I am the first and the last, the living One. I was dead, but now I am alive forever. I have the keys of death and hell". (Rev. 1:18 GW)

Quote for today:
Attempt something so impossible that unless God is in it, it's doomed to failure. (John Haggai)

On this day:
On 20th July 1648, the Westminster Larger Catechism was adopted by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland at Edinburgh. This and the Shorter Catechism have both been in regular use among Presbyterians, Baptists and Congregationalists ever since.

"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".
