<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "When I discipline you it is because I love you"

He promises me:
  "My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of His correction. For whom the Lord loves He corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights" (Prov. 3:11-12)

My response to the word:
  God is my loving heavenly Father. I know that His discipline always results in good things. He loves me, and that is why He corrects me in the same way an earthly father corrects his children because he loves them. Throughout this day I will remember the Lord's discipline in my life, and what He has taught me each time He has lovingly corrected me.

My prayer:
  Lord God, thank you for your loving discipline in my life. I will respond to it with joy because I know it will help me to grow in you.

Today's scriptures:
 "Learn this lesson by heart: the Lord your God was disciplining you as parents discipline their children". (Deut. 8:5 GW) "O Lord, blessed is the person whom you discipline and instruct from your teachings". (Ps. 94:12 GW)

Quote for today:
I am willing to bear witness that I owe more to the fire, and the hammer, and the file, than to anything else in the Lord's workshop. I sometimes question whether I have ever learned anything except through the rod. (Charles Spurgeon)
