Today God says:
"Be blameless and harmless"
He promises me:
"Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world". (Phil. 14-15)
My response to the word:
I realize that life itself is a privilege, and my work and ministry are special parts of that privilege. Therefore, I will not complain at all today. I will take care of my responsibilities as a true child of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation. With God's help, I will shine as a light in the world today.
My prayer:
Lord God, thank you for the promises of your Word. Help me to be a light in the darkness throughout this day.
Today's scriptures:
"He will continue to give you strength until the end so that no one can accuse you of anything on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ". (1 Cor. 1:8 GW) "May the God who gives peace make you holy in every way. May He keep your whole being - spirit, soul and body - blameless when our Lord Jesus Christ comes". (1 Thess. 5:23 GW) "Therefore, dear friends, with this to look forward to, make every effort to have him find you at peace, without spiritual stains or blemishes". (2 Peter 3:17 GW)
Quote for today:
Irritation in the heart of a believer is always an invitation to the devil to stand by. (Anon)
On this day:
"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".

On 9th July 1228, Stephen Langton died (born about.1155), Archbishop of Canterbury. It was Langton who formulated the original division of the Bible into chapters in the late 1100s.
On 9th July 1838, Philip Paul Bliss was born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He was an American composer, conductor, writer of hymns and a bass-baritone Gospel singer. One of his songs was "Wonderful Words of Life". On 29 December 1876, the Pacific Express train on which Bliss and his wife were traveling was approached Ashtabula, Ohio. While the train was in the process of crossing a trestle bridge it collapsed, and the carriages fell into the ravine below. No trace of either body was discovered. Ninety-two of the 159 passengers are believed to have died in what became known as the Ashtabula River Railroad Disaster.
Found in his trunk was a manuscript bearing the lyrics of the only well-known Bliss Gospel song for which he did not write a tune: "I Will Sing of My Redeemer." Soon thereafter, it was set to a tune specially written for it by James McGranahan.
