<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "My commandment is a lamp: My law is a light to you"

He promises me:
  "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life (Prov. 6:23)

My response to the word:
  The Psalmist wrote, "Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path". I believe God's Word, and I will walk in the light it provides throughout this day. His commandments are my lamp and His law (the Bible) is my light, helping me to find my way through this world of darkness. I love God's Word and I will learn its precepts and follow its commandments.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for your Word which truly is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Help me to walk in the light of your Word throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path". (Ps. 119:105 GW) "I have longed for you to save me, O Lord, and your teachings make me happy". (Ps. 119:174 GW) "My son, do not forget my teachings, and keep my commands in mind, because they will bring you long life, good years, and peace". (Prov. 3:1,2 GW)

Quote for today:
There's no better book with which to defend the Bible than the Bible itself. (D L Moody)

On this day:
On 1st August 1834, Robert Morrison died in Guangzhou, China aged 52 years, the first English Protestant missionary to reach China. Sent by the London Missionary Society in 1807, in 1823 he completed a Chinese translation of the Bible - it filled 23 volumes!
