<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I have not given you a spirit of fear".

He promises me:
  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind". (2 Tim. 1:7)

My response to the word:
  When fear sails in the sea of my mind, I will remember that faith is there too, and I will permit only faith to lay anchor in my mind. God has given me the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. The Lord wants me to walk in His power, love and sound mind throughout this day, and with His help, I will do so.

My prayer:
  Dear Father, thank you for removing fear from my life, and for replacing it with your love, power, and soundness of mind. I will walk in your ways today.

Today's scriptures:
 "We believe in the one named Jesus. Through His power alone this man, whom you know, was healed". (Acts 3:16 GW) "May the God who gives peace make you holy in every way". (1 Thess. 5:23 GW)

Quote for today:
Worry is ravaging societies worldwide. You could write on countless gravestones: Hurried, Worried, Buried. (John Haggai)

On this day:
On 1st September 1728, Philip Embury was born in Ballingrane, Ireland. He was converted in 1752 and emigrated to America in 1760 - -the first Methodist clergyman in America. In 1766 he began preaching in his own house while he was constructing a chapel on the site of the John Street Church in New York City. The chapel was completed in 1768, and Embury moved to Camden, New York the following year. The congregation he formed there grew into the influential Troy Conference.
