<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Goodness and mercy will always follow you".

He promises me:
  "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever". (Ps. 23:6)

My response to the word:
  Goodness and mercy, like two coachmen on the back of a royal coach, will always be with me, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. What a promise this is - goodness and mercy in the here-and-now, and life in God's house in the hereafter. I will walk in the certainty of this promise throughout this day.

My prayer:
  God, I thank you for your goodness and mercy which are with me constantly. I will recognize that they are part of my life throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "The mercy of God lasts all day long". (Ps. 52:1 GW) "Give thanks to the Lord because He is good, because His mercy endures forever". (Ps. 107:1 GW) "I'm convinced, brothers and sisters, that you too are filled with goodness. I'm also convinced that you have all the knowledge you need and that you are able to instruct each other". (Rom. 15:14 GW)

Quote for today:
We ought to live as miniature-painters work, for they watch every line and tint. O for more careful work, more heart work! (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 14th September 1607, John Harvard was born in London. He became a congregational clergyman, but is best remembered for the donation of 260 books and $800 (a large amount at that time) for a proposed college. Harvard University was the result. Harvard died in 1638, the year the school was begun.
